This 1977 Chieftain was originally registered in the USA as N63735. In 1986 it came to Australia and seems to have been originally registered VH-AFP(3), before becoming VH-MBP and then VH-OZP in 'the Aus-Air block'. Aus-Air was a Moorabbin-based RPT operator that ran mostly Chieftains and also a Bandit, at least when I used to deal with their flight plans!

This aircraft was one of 32 Boeing 737s ordered by Australian Airlines, being delivered on 10 September 1990. However, less than a month later it was leased to Malaysian Airlines as 9M-MLD. In October 1992 it reverted to VH-TJI and a month later was leased to Air Vanuatu, retaining its Australian registration. In April 1998 VH-TJI returned to Qantas operation, which had by then taken over Australian Airlines. Named 'Cloncurry' in Qantas service.

Built for the US Navy in 1954 as Bu 138122. One of a few Trojans transferred in the late '60s to the US Army as a flight test chase plane, but retained its Navy serial. Allotted to the National Museum of Naval Aviation in 1984 but sold to the civil market and registered N28RF on 6 November 1985. Shipped to Australia in March 2008 and registered VH-FNO(4) on 13 August that year. Assembled at Toowoomba and currently resident in NSW, it's seen here at the Wings Over the Illawarra 2016 airshow.

Avalon is coming alive for the Australian International Airshow in this shot looking south towards Corio Bay from Cessna 175, VH-RFU.. All of the white buildings you can see are actually tents erected for the airshow. Normally the place is just a paddock. If you look closely, you can see a Jetstar A320 on the RPT apron, a B744 undergoing maintenance on the heavy jet apron, and an RAAF AP-3C Orion and C-130J discharging cargo alongside.

This very photogenic aircraft is heading for Tooradin following an 'Australia's Biggest Morning Tea' charity fly-in. You have to see 'Yak on the Prowl' in the flesh to really appreciate this amazing paint job. This aircraft was built in 2003 and registered new in Australia on 23 August that year. Currently based at Tyabb in the Wickham stable.

This 1985 Metro has an interesting history. It was originally N614AV with Air Virginia, which became Nashville Eagle. It then went to Flagship Airlines, then Wings West. In 1987 it was being operated for American Eagle. At some stage it was reacquired by the manufacturer and converted to the prototype Fairchild Multi Mission Surveillance Aircraft, carrying a phased-array radar in a long pod under the fuselage. Returned to standard configuration and exported to Australia, becoming VH-SSZ on 29 September 1994. It's been VH-EES since Jul 2001.

This 1985-model Metro went first to Pioneer Airlines as N2680V. In 1988 it was leased to Wings West Airlines, who re-registered it as N346AE in 1990. In March 1993 it was returned to the leasing company and later that year was sold in Australia, becoming VH-SSW on 15 December with Newcastle Aviation. It went to Pel-Air Express in December 1994, but was not re-registered until February 2002. This aircraft is actually VH-EER(4) - number 3 also being a Metro, just to make things confusing! Retired now.

Superbly restored to full military specification during an 8-year re-build, this Tiger even includes the fittings for the blind-flying hood. It's painted in a representative wartime colour scheme, though this was never a standard scheme for RAAF Tiger Moths
