Second Prototype M-346

This did not carry a serial and is a mock up. The M-346 is an advanced trainer and about 30 aircraft have been ordered by the Israeli Airforce in competition with the Korean Aerospace T-50 Golden Eagle. They will replace the ageing Israeli Skyhawks

A sister aircraft to the Russian Yak-130, the M-346 Master is a high-end jet trainer that achieved success in the Western world - despite looking cartoonish with that towering tailfin.

Seen here taxiing out for its final display performance, the next day on departure homebound to Italy this prototype crashed in the sea near the Palm Deira after control loss, the pilots ejecting safely. The UAE Air Force was due to place an order for this light attack/advanced jet trainer, now being delivered to the Italian and Singapore AFs, but there was a dispute about spec and this event will surely make it even less likely. The PC-21 is now favoured in any case apparently
