This Mi-17-1V has manufacturer date 24 November 1995. It was accepted by the Sri Lanka Air Force as CH-588 on 13 January 1996. It was reserialled to most likely SMH-4305 in 2010, and again reserialled to SMH-588 by March 2012. It was earlier furnished in a black colour scheme. Became a white one most probably due to a SLAF United Nations mission to Mali. After return from Mali, it was placed into storage, awaiting overhaul with the SLAF Aircraft Engineering Wing (with 5,839:43 flight hours). It is made its last flight on 1 January 2022, and a last ground run date 25 September 2023.

This Hip-C was previously on display in the main museum area, but removed a few years ago to the storage compound to make way for different Mi-8 examples.

The 6 Helicopter Squadron with its 61 Flight is using this Mi-171E, which was most probably delivered in 2013. Pictured during a very fine 4Aviation tour that lead to most bases of the SLAF.

A V-5 that just returned from a United National deployment in Central African Republic. Its UN markings and registration (UNO-566P) are still visible. Its construction number is not clear, 144M07?. likewise its former identity, this could be SMH-4308. Pictured during a very fine 4Aviation tour that lead to most bases of the SLAF.

A 1982 Mi-8MT, first delivered to the Soviet Army. Then moved to the Kazakh AF. The arrival date is unknown, but it was offered for sale in 2005. Heli Air Services became the new owner and the helicopter was modified to Mi-8MTV-1 and registered as LZ-CDN. Became 9Q-CXD in possibly 2010, then sold to Aerospace Consort. in 2011. Became ER-MGW with Sky One in that same year. Reregistered with Sky One to ER-MYB. First noted as EY-225 with Pegasus Air Serv. in late 2016. To RA-22279 with Geliks on 2 Feb'22. The white Mi-8, most likely in service with Heli Air supported NGOs in Afghanistan in 2008.

The latest online reference to this helicopter that I could find was a You Tube video showing it making a precautionary landing at Vilnius Airport, Lithuania, on 29th February 2020.
