The F-86D Sabre Dog all-weather fighter was more complex than the similar F-86K, which was supplied to five European NATO countries from the mid-1950s. Denmark received some sixty used F-86Ds instead from June 1958. The Danes found the F-86D's systems difficult to keep up. Note the retractable tray for 24 'Mighty Mouse' unguided rockets. USAF serial of this machine, 51-8421.

Note the retractable tray for 24 unguided rockets in the belly of the F-86D all-weather interceptor. European air forces mostly got the simplified, cannon-armed F-86K but Greece received some used USAF F-86Ds in 1961.

A very attractive recent restoration. I have written to the Museum to try to obtain the real identity, as the one displayed is probably false, but without a reply. It is ex Danish Air Force F-977 and thus 51-5977
