This York was a built at Avro's Yeadon (Leeds) factory in mid 1946 for the RAF as a long range freighter. Operated by 511 Squadron based at RAF Lyneham. After many sorties on the Berlin Airlift (Operation Plainfare), often carrying coal, it is being serviced by Fairey Aviation at Ringway, before returning for more punishment!
