Preserved since 1998 in the very pleasant viewing park opposite Takamatsu Airport

In immaculate condition, one of the YS-11s of the resident Hiko Tenkentai (Flight Check Sqdn), delivered to the JASDF some 50 years ago. One of my absolute favourites from this tour

Imagine my amazement as I was driving along the Southend seafront one Saturday and saw a procession of four YS-11s land one after another, all the more surprising as I'd shot them nicely just two months before in Malta. The other three were ex-Piedmont and had their individual "Pacemaker" names suitably adapted. Although this one was previously Gabon Government's TR-KIA, they still gave it a Piedmont-style scheme and name, "Suez Canal Pacemaker". The four were on delivery to PBA. N924 was b/u at Hyannis, MA 7.93

Two transports of delight - this smart YS-11, acquired from ANA (JA8660) in 4.92, seen here on a maintenance visit, and my beloved Golf GTi Mk II. C5-GAB is still intact at Banjul, stored in very dusty condition; as for E967JAJ, I don't know

One of the fourteen YS-11's in storage at Honolulu in 1988 was N109MP, pictured here against a typical Hawaiian backdrop of green hills and mountains and towering clouds. This aircraft was purchased in 1983 and withdrawn from service in July 1988. It was broken up during 1992-1993.
