This is one of two DC-3s on display at the parachute jumping base of the Escuela de Fuerzas Especiales No.9 (hence the "EFE-9" on the fin), along the Pan-American highway north of Latacunga. Unfortunately neither aircraft could be positively identified because all data plates had been removed. This one is fitted with regular C-47 cargo doors on the other side. Little is known about this propliner. The 3403 once flew with Comando de Fuerzas Especiales within the Fuerza Aérea de República Dominicana. The Dakota most probably flew with the Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriana in the sixties. The aircraft is now preserved within the special forces component area at San Isidro near the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo.

Ever since shooting this Dak, I have been keenly searching for a c/n, but it is still unknown (same goes for A-9036 behind) despite the arrival of the magnificently detailed Air Britain 70 years DC-3 book some years ago
