Now in a museum, polished and with a new acrylic canopy but in 1973 it needed a little attention.

The Buffalo was the main fighter of the Dutch East Indies Air Force during the Japanese invasion. This 1:1 model, for now still stored in the depot of the Militaire Luchtvaart Museum at Soesterberg AB, will be great addition to the museum!

Acquired by the Dutch in 1946, 44-12125 never made it to the East Indies but was used as an instructional airframe in Holland. It is a bit of an ugly duckling as it has Harvard wheels.

This impressive Mitchell is an original aircraft of 18 squadron, Netherlands East Indies air force, based at Cililitan (Jakarta - Halim) in the late 1940s. She served in the Indonesian air force from 1950 till 1965 and was presented to the Dutch in 1970.

Preserved at an independence war memorial in erroneous Dutch markings, even though a Mustang which was shot down near here was British, not Dutch. This Mustang is assumed to be the Indonesian air force's F-354, which never served with the Dutch, either. 2017 update: aircraft can be seen in Google Street View wearing a French cocarde, i.e. a British roundel again applied in a wrong way...
