Rather poorly disguised as a US Coast Guard HC-131A, this is in fact a civilian CV-240. She first served with Swissair as HB-IRT, and then briefly with Transocean Air Lines as N1018C. Having become N280P she was for some reason seized by the sheriff of Salt Lake County in 1975. She was moved to Castle in 1999.

Like its twin-engined brother, the S-61, the S-62 was an amphibious helicopter. Wearing AMARC inventory number 46012, this Seaguard is awaiting restoration.

Formerly 09-27018, this was one of the first C-27s transferred to the USCG, yet to be painted in Coast Guard colours.

Although Sacramento is 100 miles from the ocean, McClellan gained a US Coast Guard station in 1978 as SFO became too busy. An active HC-130 is framed here with the preserved HU-16 and HU-25 at the local museum. The last active HU-25, not this one, was retired at Corpus Christi, Texas on 23 September 2014, a week before I took this picture.

The USCG operated 40 HH-3 Pelicans between 1968 and 1994. This one, at the time based at Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen on Puerto Rico, was withdrawn and placed in store at AMARC in 1993
