This Dakota was delivered to the RAF in February 1944 as FZ692 and transferred to RCAF 437 Sqdn in September 1944. Post-war it served 424 Sqdn as 12945 for Search & Rescue at CFB Trenton. After withdrawal from service by the Canadian Armed Forces in 1973 it was used for mineral and environmental surveys by Environment Canada as C-GRSB. Donated to the museum in May 2014, it has been restored to its wartime colours as used in the Normandy and Rhine Crossing landings and still flies frequently, with passenger rides available for C$275. Contracted as 42-92489, this C-47 was delivered to the Royal Air Force as FZ692 in February 1944. Transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force in June 1946, it was re-serialed 12945 in 1970. Declared surplus in 1972 the aircraft went to the USA as N91GA from 1973 - 75 before coming back to Canada as C-GRSB. First with the Department of Energy and Mines, it would later be assigned to Environment Canada until 2014. It has been in the Canadian Warplane Heritage collection since then.
