This airframe was recovered from Iraq in 1979 and is likely built up from Sea Fury airframes from the Royal Navy and the Iraqi Air Force. The centre-section is definitely marked as ex-Fleet Air Arm WJ298. After restoration in November 1983 a CoA was issued, the plane was registered VH-HFG. In November 2006 it was transported to the USA and subsequently registered N97SF. This reg was cancelled in October 2019 and the frame exported to Germany and registered D-CRZY. VH-HFG was one of the Iraqi Furies, former Iraqi Air Force aircraft found in storage in 1979. It was registered in Australia in November 1983. Without the kangaroo roundel - it was not adopted until 1956 - its markings are the same as the Royal Navy. The K on the fin marks it as Australian. The 308 in the code is its former Iraqi serial. VH-HFG was sold in the US as N45SF in 2006.
