Saab J21A 21364 was delivered to the Swedish Air Force in August 1948. With its highly characteristic shape, it was one of the first types of aircraft delivered with an ejection seat. Its service life was cut short, when jet fighters became available in large numbers, and by 1954 serial 21364 was already retired and moved to the flight historical collection, which became the excellent Flygvapenmuseum.

The SAAB 21 series is a Swedish fighter/attack aircraft in a twin boom pusher configuration that first flew in 1943. Of the 298 total production, 66 were of the A-3 version, equipped with a bomb aiming sight and armed with unguided rockets and bombs as well later being able to use two RATO rockets. This example is one of three J 21 survivors and is on display at this museum.

The J21A, the first of the impressive lineage of Saab fighters. Because of its pusher propeller configuration it pioneered an ejection seat, and stands very tall. It was developed into the J21R jet.
