Changi Airport as it was in 2008 looking to the North. The "budget" terminal in the center of the image (later demolished and replaced with terminal 4), then the main terminal complex comprising terminal 2 on the right, terminal 3 on the left and the original terminal 1 at the rear with the control tower in between. In the top right is the freight complex and SIA maintenance hangars.

Image taken almost 60 years to the day that QANTAS's first ever service was operated (2nd November,1922) from Longreach. A Trans Australia Airlines Fokker F27 (VH-TQT, Thomas Mitchell) operating it's Queensland regional service in 1982 stands in front of the original QANTAS hangar built in 1922 and heritage listed on the 21st of October 1992 and now part of the QANTAS Founders Outback Museum.

Crumbling away in amongst overgrown vegetation in 2005, this area would have been a busy aerodrome scene in the early part of the last century, replete with sounds of aero engines and aviation fumes. The Control Tower's equipment was removed in 1958 and the last RAF aircraft landed at Hendon on the 19th of June 1968. The aerodrome fell silent to aircraft and became a museum and housing estate. The Graham-White offices and "Watch" Tower were eventually moved to the RAF Museum site and reconstructed, and this area became home to the new Colindale police station and a high-rise housing estate.
