Later converted by NARF Alameda to ERA-3B in June '73 and assigned to VAQ-33 "Firebirds". . Lost after mid-air collision with KA-3B 138925 enroute to Elmendorf AFB AK.

The prototype BAC TSR-2 and the only example to fly. Exhibited at its sole public appearance at the Warton factory 1966 families day. It was taken to the Shoeburyness test range shortly thereafter and tested to destruction. Sheer political vandalism.

The prototype TSR-2 during its only public appearance at the 1966 BAC families open day at Warton. It had been grounded a few weeks before by governmental diktat and was quickly taken to Shoeburyness for destructive tests in an attempt to reduce political embarrassment.

The prototype TSR-2 first flew on 27 September 1964. It made 24 test flights with a total time of 13 hours 9 minutes, the last being on 31 March 1965. I had seen it take off for a test flight on 8 March leaving a vivid trail of shock diamonds in its wake. 11 June 1966 was the only public viewing of the aircraft which left by road for destructive tests at Shoeburyness soon afterwards. This was the only example of the type to become airborne.
