My late father started his advanced flying training on 25 February 1953 with 203 AFS based at RAF Driffield in Yorkshire. He was on a solo flight, exercise 14 which was for aerobatics according to his flight log. He was assigned Meteor IV VT240 code O-25. On completing the sortie he was cleared to land. On landing before he had cleared the runway there was a big bang and he ended up on the grass. On running clear and looking back he saw he had been hit by Meteor T7 WL413 which took off his tail. WL413 was delivered on 24 Jul 1952. Repaired after accident. Last noted Farnborough 24 Feb 1966.

He was on a solo flight, exercise 14 which was for aerobatics according to his flight log. He was assigned Meteor F4 VT240 code O-25. On landing he was hit from behind by Meteor WL413 which removed the tail of Dads' aircraft. My Dad ran like hell away from his aircraft and only on turning round realised what had happened.
