The Princess on the slipway at Cowes. Its launch was aborted on this day due to the weather. On the left is G-12-1 - the SR.A/1 jet fighter flying boat was then already a dead project.

A great shot of an oddball aircraft! In Denmark, the Zonen company had already operated similar ambulance planes when their competitor Falck acquired this Turkish-built machine in 1952. The THK-5 was designed and built by the factory of Türk Hava Kurumu, the Turkish Aeronautical Association. The photo was likely taken at EKKM. The aircraft served until 1961 when it was damaged beyond repair at Aalborg. Photo by: Børge Venge / Aarhus Arkivet
