A day after it was redelivered to the Afghan National Army - Air Corps this early 1980s built An-26B was still standing on its spot that was created for a small ceremony. It returned to Russia for an overhaul somewhere in 2005 and was redelivered to the 382 Regiment on 06 January 2006. Eventually, only four years after this redelivery, it was already phased out on 24 December 2010. The current whereabouts are not known.

A CH-53E Super Stallion made a spectacular tactical landing over Kandahar air field in the war torn Afghanistan. By coincidence I was at the right place to picture the top view of the mighty helicopter, only moment later it disappeared in a brown out condition. The CH-53E was deployed with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron (HMM) 365/Reinforced 'Blue Knights' (a CH-46E Sea Kight squadron).

The OH-58D(I) Kiowa Warrior is equipped with the most distinctive feature of the Kiowa family, the Mast Mounted Sight (MMS). This MMS is a kind of beach ball perched on top of the rotor blades that is equipped with a gyro-stabilized television system (TVS), a thermal imaging system (TIS), and a laser range finder/designator (LRF/D). The 94-00063 unfortunately crashed a few months after this picture was taken during a post maintenance test flight from Kandahar. The crash was caused by technical failure during an autorotation landing.
