We arrived back at the aircraft well before our pre-agreed meeting time. It was cloudy during most of the airshow displays, but in the end of the afternoon, the sun finally showed its face. I think we walked around the aircraft freely for about 30-45 minutes, before we needed to get onboad for the flight back to O.R. Tambo.

About a week and a half before our departure to South Africa, we found out that Skyclass would operate their DC-4 from O.R. Tambo to the airshow Swartkop AFB. About 1,5h after finding out, our seats were booked and we ended up being able to reserve seats 1A and 2A, which was right where we hoped to be. As we approached the airfield, we made a low pass before circling to land. Outside you can see the flightline and a lot of early visitors. Photo taken from seat 2A.

The immaculate DC-4 "Lebombo" returns from a pleasure flight on the Thursday prior to RIAT.

South African offered a very special deal, round trip Rand to Wonderboom Airshow on their DC-4, flying different airframes on the two legs. The reason why I could not make the photos with the props turning was because I was on board!
