Some 50 Sycamores flew with the Bundeswehr, this one as as 7806. Four of these (D-HAHN, D-HELM, D-HOSE and D-HEMD) were later transferred to the Lower Saxony Fire Service (Feuerwehr-Flugdienstes Niedersachsen). However, the high maintenance costs and fuel consumption meant that they were soon replaced D-HAHN then became part of the Bad Oeynhausen Motor Technica Museum and was, fortunately, after the museum's demise stored in a dry hangar. It is now at Museum Kiemele and it has not yet been decided if, after restoration, it will be displayed in its Feuerwehr or original Bundeswehr scheme. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
