First flown in August 1977 as CCCP-19774 and re-registered CCCP-83966 just before this Paris show appearance, an allocation which had previously been used on the An-32 appearing at Paris in 1977. Later changed again, to CCCP-72001 but severely damaged in a hard landing at Kiev-Svyatoshino (date unknown) and wfu. Rebuilt as An-71 AWACS aircraft with distinctive forward-swept tail and registered CCCP-780151, rolled out June 1985. Only three produced before programme abandoned in 1990.This one last noted at Svyatoshino in 2009 cannibalised This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
