The art deco hangar is not only older than the aircraft but also older than the airport, It had been erected in the 1930s at Maylands airport, which was Perth's airport prior to World War II. The hangar was moved the Perth (Guildford) after the war when MMA relocated its operations here. The site of the airport at Guildford had been selected prior to war but was constructed as a wartime RAAF base, The hangar was demolished to make way for expansion of a terminal building in the 1980s.
