Climbing away from Glasgow's Runway 23 after an overnight stop en route from Africa back to the USA. Built for the USAAF as Douglas C-47B-30-DK, 44-76166. Transferred to the RAF in April 1945 as KN472. Joined the South African AF in October 1945 as 6868, latterly converted to a DC-3-65TP. Entered civilian life in 1998 as N194RD then ZS-OIR. Re-registered as N194RD with Dodson Aviation of Ottawa, Kansas in 1999. Joined the evangelical Christian aid agency Samaritan's Purse International Relief of Boone, North Carolina in 2001 as N467SP This photo is copyright © David A.
