Airworthy Skytrain inside the hangar at Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum. "Tico Belle" was taken on charge by the USAAF in 1943 with s/n 42-100591. It is a veteran of D-Day, assigned to 437th Troop Carrier Group that towed a Waco CG-4A glider with 82nd Airborne paratroopers. It took part in Op Dragoon, Op Market Garden and Op Varsity. The aircraft took part in the Berlin Airlift before it was transferred to the Royal Norwegian Air Force in 1950 and then to the Royal Danish Air Force in Aug 1956, where it was used as a VIP transport. Acquired in 1982, it is the flagship of the museum. This photo is copyright © Arjun Sarup, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
