Actually a P-51D built by North American at Inglewood for the USAAF as 44-73979, taken on strength by the RCAF as 9246 in December 1950. Grounded after an accident in May 1951. In the early 1970s it was restored as "Big Beautiful Doll" at Duxford and went on display suspended at the IWM in London. Returned to Duxford and repainted in 2014 as a P-51K of the 82nd FS, 78th FG for the American Air Museum This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
