During the Rhodesian Bush War, the Rhodesian Air Force carried no serials and in some cases no nationality markings on their aircraft. This 2 Sqd Vampire is caught at Durban with only the roundel as identification markings. The RhAF Vampires came from two sources; former RAF Vampires delivered to the Royall Rhodesian Air Force in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and former SAAF Vampires. The latter were for the most part returned to South Africa before Zimbabwe came to be in 1980. Photographer unknown This photo was added on 1 March 2025, and has since been viewed 170 times. |
