First flown in 1944, 43-17178 USAAF, 20 October 1944 39121 converted to R5D-2 for US Navy, 25 July 1946 N88707 Eastern Airlines fleet no 714 (leased), returned to US Navy 6 May 1951 and stored. 1956 N68576 converted to DC-4A, 11 August 1956 LN-SUP Braathens SAFE "Commander". 1957 leased to Loftleidir. 1960 returned and repainted in the colours seen on this photo, and renamed "Norse Commander". 6 July 1966 D-ADAR TF TransprotFlug, 1967 D-ADAR leased to Alitalia. 1968 D-ADAR TF TransportFlug (returned).
