Enjoying a spot of sunshine on a winter afternoon at Duxford. This Sabre delivered as 48-0178 to the USAF is painted with black and white ID stripes of the 4th FG as worn during the first half of the Korean War. Cream of the crop, 4th FIG with aces from WW2 was sent to the Far East Air Force (FEAF) to counter the MiG-15 threat, reaching Kimpo AB on 13 Dec 1950. Lt Col. Bruce Hinton, CO of 336th FIS scored the first Sabre victory over a MiG-15 on 17 Dec. Soon after, a streak of victories over the MiG-15 ended its brief air superiority, with 4th FIG enjoying the lion's share over MiG Alley.
