Also taken this day at Proserpine was Ansett's then new Convair 440 VH-BZF. The crowds may have turned out to see the new plane. Ansett owned the nearby Hayman Island resort. For a many years it received an Ansett flying boat service from Sydney via Brisbane. When landplanes took over, Proserpine became the transit airport holiday makers.
