An Avro Manchester bomber stands centre with its two RR Vulture engines removed for servicing by Avros. Note the centre fin, later deleted when larger twin elliptical fins were fitted. A Hawker Hector of the based Central Landing Establishment is at left. A CLE Hotspur glider is landing after a demonstration for Winston Churchill. The vintage fuel pumps are protected by sandbags.
