To Northwest Airways in 1929. In 1935 to Alaska. Then it joined Monroe Airlines, Michigan. In June 1951 it was purchased by Johnson Flying Service, Missoula, MT with new c/r N8419 to be used by the United States Fire Services but for a short while it was used in a film "Red Skies of Montana". It was also leased back to Northwest Airlines for a commemorative flight in 1956. On 4 August 1959 the aircraft crashed at Grangeville, Idaho killing three people. The aircraft was substantially destroyed but rebuilt from the remains and other Tri-motor components. Registration cancelled 14 February 2018.

This magnificent aircraft was built in 1931. It does not feature in my logs but I think that it was seen at Flying Cloud.

Its hard to believe that Northwest flew their Hamiltons throughout the frozen north during the 1920's and 30's. Not much instrumentation.

Hidden away in a hangar I found this gem of an airplane. Northwest Airways flew them in the 1920's/30's.

This was one of 12 9D Orions built in 1933/34. Carried up to six passengers plus mail cruising at 208 mph with 550 h.p. P&W Wasp engine. Served Northwest Airways on Air Mail Route 9 from Minneapolis to Chicago. NW Airways was formed in 1926 and changed its name to NW Airlines in April 1934. From NWAL 60 years ago.
