Wearing similar color scheme used Braniff Airways 1979-1982, while this one was wearing back then Red/Gold color scheme. And before that Blue/Light Blue c/s. It was also serving Braniff Airways (1983-1989) from Feb 1986 until collapse of airline 1989. Braniff International Airlines started late 1990/early 1991 with Emerald Air's AOC (air operator's certificate) due its challenged got own. However, if was granted to it on May 1991 and it started scheduled flights on July 1, 1991. Went Chapter 11, August 7th and ceased operations July 2, 1992.

Branniff International Airlines used this 1965-built DC-9 for one year only before this revival airline was defunct again. Seen here in storage, the airliner was sold to Allegro a year later and flew with them and finally with Aerocaribe until 1999. Then the DC-9 was retired and stored at Mexico City; last registration was XA-SPA.

Ex Eastern/Panam, leased to Braniff Jan 1992 till it ceased operations a few months later. Stored in KMHV (Mojave) till it was sold as XA-SXE 1st July 1995

Short-lived and last incarnation of the Braniff airline name, operating for only one year, from July 1991 until July 1992. Although this former Eastern Air Lines 727 looks smart in these blue Braniff colours, the paint job is clearly starting to wear off. Perhaps an ominous sign, because only a month later the airline ceased operations. This aircraft was first stored at Mojave and later at Miami, and scrapped there during 1998.
