Ex Newcastle Aviation, transferred Dec 1995 and re-registered VH-EEQ 22nd Jan 2002

Just to confuse matters, this is the second Pel-Air Metro to be registered VH-EEQ! This one was built in 1985 and registered N3119B to Wings West Airlines. In 1990 they re-registered it N347AE. In 1993 it was exported to Australia, being registered VH-SST on 5 April. It was re-registered VH-EEQ by Pel-Air in January 2002.

This 1989 freighter version of the Brasilia was test flown by manufacturer Embraer under the registration PT-SNJ. On 15 February that year it was delivered to US operator Comair as N1117H. In April 1998 it changed hands to Skywest Airlines (USA). In April 2005 it came to Australia for Pel-Air, being registered VH-EEB(2) on 29 April that year. Seen here retired and awaiting disposal.

This 1985 Metro has an interesting history. It was originally N614AV with Air Virginia, which became Nashville Eagle. It then went to Flagship Airlines, then Wings West. In 1987 it was being operated for American Eagle. At some stage it was reacquired by the manufacturer and converted to the prototype Fairchild Multi Mission Surveillance Aircraft, carrying a phased-array radar in a long pod under the fuselage. Returned to standard configuration and exported to Australia, becoming VH-SSZ on 29 September 1994. It's been VH-EES since Jul 2001.

In March 1993 it was returned to the leasing company and later that year was sold in Australia, becoming VH-SSW on 15 December with Newcastle Aviation. It went to Pel-Air Express in December 1994, but was not re-registered until February 2002. This aircraft is actually VH-EER(4) - number 3 also being a Metro, just to make things confusing! Retired now.
