This photo was taken after the return of VF-96 from its very successful 1971/1972 cruise on board USS Constellation. On 10 May 1972, three VF-96 crews shot down a total of eight North Vietnamese MiGs, making VF-96 the most successful USN squadron with a total of ten MiG-kills during the entire Vietnam war. This aircraft carries eight MiG-kill markings in recognition of the events of 10 May 1972. This F-4J was later upgraded to F-4S.
