When Israel started to explore it's own natural gas as from March 2004, the country's dependance on importing this energy source slowly turned around. With the discovery of more gas fields around 2010, Israel's offshore helicopter activity saw a steep rise. In due course, local operator Lahak Aviation leased several S-76 and Bell 412 helicopters from PHI Inc. 4X-BDO shown here was manufactured in 1981 and got delivered to Lahak on July 17, 2013. Since being manufactured in 1980, this particular airframe first flew as D-HDJS in Germany, then as N46975 in the US before being used by the Deutsche Rettungsflugwacht (DRF) as D-HMED in the EMS role. It then soldiered on in Sweden as SE-JFD, later in Finnland as OH-HMC before heading to Israel around 2006. Lahak Aviation operated at least three BO105's on behalf of Israel's Magen David Adom ambulance service. The 105's have since been replaced by BK117's.
