A68-1001 was the pattern aircraft for Australian production by CAC at Fishermans Bend. Never entered squadron service and was scrapped in 1951. The RAAF in Australia received 300 aircraft directly from North American and 200 from CAC. It already had experience with the aircraft over Italy where 3 Squadron was part of the Allied forces in the Mediterranean.
