The Turkish Navy is one of the foreign operators of this Agusta Bell ASW model, having received 15 helicopters starting from 1977. This particular helicopter ditched at sea off the Dardanelles on 17 June 1993, after experiencing a technical problem. The crew escaped but the helicopter sank and was subsequently declared W/O. The website of the Turkish Navy actually reports three remaining AB-212 used for training and four used for ASW duties.
