This BK117 C-1 was displayed at the American Eurocopter booth at HAI- Heli-Expo 1993 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Florida. This was one year after the helicopter divisions of Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm (MBB) from Germany and Aerospatiale from France merged to form Eurocopter on January 1, 1992. During 1992, the BK117C-1 was also introduced with two Turbomeca Arriel 1E engines. This BK117 was flight tested in Germany as D-HMBL and then wore four registrations in the US: N117AE, N317MC, N195LL, N911XE. In 2021 it was flying for the University of Pennsylvania Health PennSTAR EMS program.
