Built in 1946. Registered to the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp as NC86638. In 1948 became N86638 with the Union Oil Co of California. Upgraded to a McDermott Super Widgeon in 1955, with Continental O-470B engines fitted. Operated by a succession of private owners from the end of1975. Initially in Florida, moved to Alaska in 1976 and remained registered in Anchorage until August 1990, when it returned to Florida in the ownership of Chester M. Lawson of Port Orange. Transferred to Waterwings Seaplanes of Hoover, Alabama in 2019.
