The Ustica massacre was a plane crash which occurred at 20:59 on 27 June 1980 in the southern Tyrrhenian Sea, in the stretch between the Italian islands of Ponza and Ustica. The IH870 scheduled flight of the Itavia airline was involved, departing from Bologna-Borgo Panigale airport inbound Palermo-Punta Raisi airport. All 81 occupants of the aircraft, including passengers and crew, died in the accident.
