The aircaft was in open storage at San francisco for some years. At the time it was owned by one of Howard Hughes' companies and was under watch 24 hours a day by guards to prevent anyone from approaching the aircraft and any photography - this photo was taken by some misdirection. It was eventually was sold for museum display.

Ex VH-TOB, N9946F was stored at Richmond for about 15 years. During this time it made an appearance in the Indiana Jones' movie Raiders of the Lost Ark pretending to be a Boeing 314. N9946F is now displayed at the Oakland Aviation Museum at nearby Oakland.

Operated a network stretching from Hobart to Papua New Guinea. The Hobart terminus was the navy base HMAS Huon, now closed. VH-TOB sold in the US as N9946F in 1954. Remained on the US register until 2012, 54 years after its last flight. Now preserved.

Ordered as a Sunderland Mk IV for the RAF, completed as a Seaford and then converted to a Solent for BOAC, this British flying boat ended up in the United States in 1954. It appears in the Indiana Jones movie Raiders of the Lost Ark, but is incomplete.
