Seaplane pier at Torslanda. At the 1923 airport building is most probably ST-4 Monospar SE-ADS, which was based here. LN-DAH dates the photo between 1936 and 1940 at the latest. A new terminal was built on the north side of the airfield in 1938. Photo from: Scandinavian Airlines - SAS

Situated on an islet in the Oslo Fjord, Oslo's first airport maybe wasn't very practical, but it was surely idyllic! Brand new in the summer of 1936, this Ju 52 was captured by the German army in 1940 and put in Lufthansa service as D-AQUI. Returned to DNL as LN-KAF in 1946. Scrapped, but the wings were used to restore c/n 130714, which later became Lufthansa's vintage Tante Ju 'D-AQUI' - see photo 70519 for details. Photo from: Nasjonalbiblioteket (Norway)

SE-BAC was delivered to ABA in September 1937 and this early DC-3, later operated by SAS and Karair, survives in the Finnish Aviation Museum in Vantaa. F-AOTY is a Potez 621. In the background are three KLM DC-2s, PH-ALD, AKN (airborne) and AKS. There seem to be no paved runways yet which would date the photo before 1938. PH-AKS crashed in October 1938.
