This Navy Herc was once ordered through USAF channels as 73-840 and delivered in 1973. It was for that moment assigned to Antarctische Development Squadron (VXE) SIX. The aircraft was named 'Spirit of Willy Field' and "Chilly" and became the last VXE-6 Herc on an Antarctica flight on 17 February 1999. It is stored with its skids at AMARG since 8 March 1999.
