This 1979 Baron was initially registered in Germany as D-IBMP. Its current owner bought it there and had the registration N1203K allocated, although it was never formally registered in the US. It was instead registered in Canada as C-FYZK. Flown to the Philippines, it was re-registered locally as RP-C1872. In 2000 the owner moved it to Australia and the aircraft was re-registered VH-YIC on 13 January that year after the aircraft the owner learned to fly in - Aeronca Champ CF-YIC.
