NC9614 was first delivered to the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co in 1929. In 1932 it was fitted with large loudspeakers in the cabin by the Plane Speaker Corporation for a noisy form of aerial advertising called The Voice of the Sky. A couple of Fokker F.VII-3ms had been used for this from 1927. In Europe, Caproni Ca.101 I-ABCQ was equipped with the system. NR9614 burnt in a hangar fire at Roosevelt Field, New York on 2 June 1933.
