A batch of 15 US Army Norsemans in storage at Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany were sold to Israel through an American broker in 1948. Ferry tanks were installed by KLM in Amsterdam. The two aircraft identifiable here, NC79823 (ex 44-70506) and NC79821 (c/n 521, 44-70256) landed in Gaza, rather than Tel Aviv in darkness on 25 May 1948 and were captured by Egyptian forces.
