Preserved as a monument to Major Mileta Protić who was born in Tovariševo and became a distinguished seaplane pilot with the Yugoslav navy before WWII. He was elected as the first Commander of the 1st Yugoslav Squadron allied with Marshall Tito. On his 66th and last combat mission, Commander Protić took off on December 19, 1944 from Can airport, in Italy, and was killed whilst bombing a column of tanks near the town of Žepče in central Bosnia.
