Ordered by the US Navy as 136745. To the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force as 4146. Returned to the USA by ship in 1983 and moved to Hemet. Japanese markings have been painted over. Not converted to a firebomber and stored for many years. Restored and preserved there as a memorial to firefighters by 2001.

This aircraft, which once served with the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force as serial 4146, was photographed heading up a line of sister ships acquired for conversion to fire bombers, or possibly to support the conversion program, in the Hemet Valley Flying Service yard. However it was never converted but was spruced up and painted as Tanker 70 and now stands as a gate guard outside the co-located Hemet-Ryan Air Attack Base.
