An F2H Banshee of VF-11, flown by Ensign Buffkin, photographed over an enemy airfield. The T tail code evidently belonged to CVG-101 on the carrier Kearsarge (and not to CVG-1). A naval port, Wonsan was continuously bombed and shelled for much of the Korean War, and the airfield was unusable. From 2013, Wonsan was developed as a resort, Kim Jong-un having spent his childhood years here, and a civil terminal at the airbase received its first flight on 24 September 2015 - see the photos of our contributor Robbie Shaw who was on board.
