Minus its high-visibility fire-fighting markings and now carrying some sort of stablised camera underneath the nose. This Squirrel was delivered new to the RAAF for the ADF Helicopter School, RAAF Fairbairn, Canberra on 12 June 1984. Sold in 2002, it was civil registered as VH-ALP(3) on 20 March 2003. Subsequently re-registered as VH-TCE(2), then VH-THJ(3).

This Squirrel was used as the jump ship at the Australian International Airshow Media Day. It's normally employed on fire-fighting duties as 'Firebird 311.'

This media chopper was first registered in Australia on 15 December 1983. For a while at least it was based out of the ABC studios in Sydney before moving to Melbourne.

'Polair 34' is the only single-engine chopper in the Victorial Police Air Wing fleet. It doesn't seem to come out much, so it was good to see it taking the sun this day. It's used for training and utility work and replaced an earlier Squirrel by the same name that was written off in an accident in 1991. This one is a 1987-model and was registered in Australia on 22 October 1991.

VH-AFO was new when the picture was taken. The sticker on the fuselage says Ansett General Aviation, the name of the aircraft dealership.

Stage 2 of the Tour de France, which started in the Dutch city of Utrecht this year. No less than five Ecureuils landed in this field to unload and load VIP guests. People in the background are waiting for the riders.
