A Mi-14PLM (NATO code name HAZE) was present at homebase Saky in mid-2012. The Anti-Surface/Submarine Warfare (ASW) helicopter can be equipped with a towed magnetic anomaly detector (MAD), sonobuoys, a retractable search radar, and can be armed with a single torpedo, one heavy depth bomb or eight depth charges. The PLM version is a Modified version of the PL and is equipped with more modern systems and avionica.

An operatonal Mi-14PS of ther Ukraine Naval Aviation component in splendid condition. The helicopter was repainted after an overhaul in 2012 in this striking colour scheme. Although, a Mi-14 is able to land on water, this one leaked and was not allowed anymore to come too close to water.

This Mi-14PL was not modified to PLM like 36 yellow (see my other picture). The 35 yellow was in its original livery and reportedly temporary stored. The Mi-14 was possibly awaiting modification to PLM.

Mid-2012, three Mi-14s were seen at Saky of which this 35 yellow was recently fitted with a new camouflage pattern and was assessed as in immaculate condition. The helicopter was airworthy and equipped with a working dipping sonar that is used for coastal patrols and Anti-Surface/Submarine Warfae (ASW). The helicopter belongs to the Saks'ka Aviatsiya Brigada (SABr), the Naval Air Component of the Viys'kovo-Mors'ki Syly Ukrayiny (Ukraine Navy). This unit operates two unnumbered Helicopter Eskadrily'.

This former East German heli turned up in the Uetersen museum. Now it's perserved in Berlin-Gatow.

Most of Libya's dozen or so Mi-14s operate in a grey scheme on ASW duties from the far end of the Mitiga base but a couple have been modified as fire-fighters in Ukraine and sport this colourful livery with 1314 Sqdn.

One of the two Libyan Mils adapted for fire suppression work by Sevastopol Aircraft Plant a couple of years ago. Has a 4000l tank and can pick up from very shallow depths - gave a water dumping demonstration after picking up in the sea just outside the base during show next day. Manufactured in 1982 but had only accumulated about 250 hours by the mid-90s

The Mi-14 is the amphibious naval version of the Mi-8. This Volksmarine example is preserved at Hermeskeil.
